What separates a good walk from a bad one

Three things, none of them rankable. Whether the guide can hold a street corner in the cold. Whether the city underneath has anything real in it, so the stories have somewhere to stand. And whether the walk tells you which parts are documented, because a tour that presents every legend as fact is a tour you cannot trust about anything. What Copenhagen honestly offers

Exactly one guided ghost walk runs in English: an hour and a half from Nytorv to Kongens Nytorv, guide in a black cloak with a lantern, storytelling with no special effects and no elaborate props, operator working since 2004, not suitable for under-sevens. It runs rain or cold. The known weakness is availability — a reviewer in August 2026 found “only one available for the whole month”. Two further guided walks, on the nightmen and on folk legends, run in Danish only, and two self-guided murder mystery hunts run in English or Danish whenever you like.
