Is Copenhagen Expensive?

This site quotes no figures at all, so the useful answer is a different one: almost everything this city is famous for looking at costs nothing. Walking is the main activity, Strøget and the squares are public, and Assistens Cemetery is open ground you can spend an afternoon in. The live booking widget shows what the walks are going for today.

What costs nothing here

The walk itself. Strøget was pedestrianised in 1962 at 1.1 km and runs straight through Gammeltorv and Nytorv, both public squares, and Nytorv is where a permanent execution scaffold stood from 1627 to 1761. Assistens Cemetery in Nørrebro is 25 hectares of open ground and the largest green space in the inner district, with Hans Christian Andersen, Søren Kierkegaard and Niels Bohr in it. Nyhavn, dug between 1670 and 1673 by Swedish prisoners of war, is a canal you look at. The city is flat and compact, which turns a whole day into a walk.

What the walks require

The two self-guided murder mystery hunts need nothing beyond the package itself and a pen. They are fully analogue, with no phone required, and they do not include food, drink, transport tickets or entry fees, so you carry nothing and pay for nothing while you are out. The guided ghost walk is a 90-minute walk on public streets with a guide, and the six giants trip includes private transport, a coffee break and a meal, which is a different kind of product altogether.

Where to get the actual number

From the widget on this page, which is live, rather than from an article that was written last year. What shapes what you pay — group size, guided against self-guided, whether transport and food are included — is set out on the costs page. Whether the walk is worth doing at all is a separate question, and if you are weighing formats, guided or self-guided is the comparison.
