Which Copenhagen walk to choose

Which walk to choose
Two questions settle almost every case: do you read Danish, and does it need to be dark? If you do not read Danish, four of the six are open to you and only one of those is a guided ghost walk. If it needs to be dark, you are booking between roughly late September and March, because on 21 June the sun sets at 9:57 pm. Everything after that is about how long you have and whether you want somebody talking to you.

How to read those ratings

None of the scores on this site is a large sample except one. The giants walk has 138 reviews at 5.0. The guided ghost walk has 14, also at 5.0. The two hunts have two and three reviews between them, and the two Danish walks are new listings with none at all. A 5.0 across 14 verified bookings is encouraging and it is not proof; a 4.5 across two reviews is barely a number. Treat the guided walk’s score as a signal that nobody has yet had a bad evening, and the giants’ score as the only statistic here that would survive scrutiny. Our reviews go through each product properly.

What works

  • One decision does most of the work: English or Danish
  • The self-guided hunts remove the date problem entirely
  • October gives you darkness, Tivoli’s Halloween season and a full sunset by 6 pm
  • Four of the six run in English in some form, which is more than the market first looks

Worth knowing

  • There is exactly one guided ghost walk in English and its dates are thin
  • Between May and August a ghost walk is a walk in daylight
  • The two best-subject walks are in Danish only
  • Neither hunt can be booked by one person

If you only do one thing

If you cannot decide, book the guided walk for the first date you can get in October and fill the rest of the trip around it. It is the only thing here with a supply problem. The hunts are valid whenever, the giants run every daylight morning, and nothing else on this site is going to sell out from under you. Why October.

Those dates don’t work?

The guided ghost walk runs on set evenings and sells out early in October. Browse what else is bookable in Copenhagen — the self-guided murder mysteries you can start whenever you like, and the daytime walks — and pick a date that suits you, with instant confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best ghost tour in Copenhagen?

There is one guided ghost walk in English, so the question mostly answers itself. Whether it is the best walk for you depends on darkness and dates: the longer answer.

I am travelling alone. What can I book?

The guided ghost walk or the six giants. Both murder-mystery hunts set a minimum of two people: guided or self-guided.

Which walk is best in bad weather?

A self-guided hunt, because you control the pace and can sit inside for half an hour. The guided ghost walk runs in rain and cold regardless: what to wear.

Which one works for a family?

Not the ghost walk with under-7s and not the giants with under-12s. A hunt, worked as a team, is usually the answer: children on a ghost walk.

When should I come if I want it dark?

October or later. Sunset falls from 6:47 pm on 1 October to 4:35 pm on 31 October, and the day shortens by 2 hrs 13 min across the month: the sunset tables.
